In this post, I'm going to introduce Peruvian superfoods that can help strengthen immunity due to the recent spread of COVID-19.
It was written based on the information introduced by comision de promocion del Peru para exportacion y el turismo.
As explained in the post of "The country of the Inca Empire-Peru" about the geography and climate of Peru, Peru has a variety of natural environments and climates, and various superfoods are produced.
Peruvian super foods have been introduced and widely known for several years.
Superfoods that are introduced are also available for purchase in various forms even through on-line.
◇ Quinoa ◇
Quinoa is a food that many people have heard of already.
Quinoa is a food cultivated around the Andes since the days of the ancient Inca civilization. It contains twice as much protein, six times as much potassium, and seven times as much calcium than rice. It is also a good way to provide nutrients for those with atopy as it is gluten-free.
The method of eating quinoa is usually cooked like rice or put in a salad. It can be used as quinoa porridge at homes with children.
However, with regard to the high potassium content of quinoa, to eat quinoa you need to be cautious with kidney disease if you have.
In Peru, you can find quinoa in a wide variety of colors such as beige, purple, gray, white and yellow etc.
◆ Maca ◆
Maca is a food called'Peru's Ginseng'. It is produced at an altitude of 3800m to 4400m above sea level.
Because it grows in the harsh natural environment of the high altitude areas, it seems that its vitality is used as nutrients to deliver good influence elements to us.
Maca contains various vitamins, minerals and essential amino acids, as well as saponin which is main ingredient of ginseng.
These nutrients are good for improving immunity and recovering from fatigue, making them a good food for stressful candidates and office workers.
There is a lack of definitive scientific information, but someone say it is effective for men's fertility, menopausal disorders and hormonal disorders in women.
Maca can be eaten baked or eaten in a variety of ways, including baking, cookies, oatmeal, smoothies, puddings, etc.
If you eat too much, you may have diarrhea, so take it within 5-10g.
□ Golden berry □
The origin of golden berry is South America and is called 'Aguai Manto' in Peru.
Golden berries contain linoleic and oleic acids, which help lower cholesterol.
In addition, it is a superfood containing a variety of carbohydrates, fiber, protein, vitamin C, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin A, iron, and phosphorus.
These nutrients are helpful for anti-inflammatory and immunity. It is a food that is helpful in skin care with rich vitamins.
The taste of golden berry is a mixture of tomato, mango, and pineapple, and the texture is similar to that of tomato, and you can feel a slightly sour taste.
Golden berries are usually dried and used as a topping for various foods such as raisins or made with jam.
It is better to consume no more than 10 tablets a day, you should eat ripe golden berries because eating raw golden berries can cause stomach pain and diarrhea.
▽ Sacha Inchi ▽
Sacha Inchi is called 'Omeganut' or 'Inca peanut'.
Although most nuts are good for the body, Sacha Inchi has more nutrients and efficacy than other nuts, so it is called a superfood.
First of all, Sacha Inchi has a unique shape, it looks like a star.
Sacha Inchi is produced in the Andes Mountains and in the rain forest.
Sacha Inchi contains a lot of vegetable omega 3 and vitamin E.
In relation to omega 3, it is said to help brain development and prevent dementia by making the blood vessels in the brain strong.
It is also excellent in removing free radicals and helps to lower cholesterol levels, helping to prevent hyperlipidemia.
It is said that it helps blood circulation in relation to vitamin E, helps to break down abdominal fat, and increases basal metabolism to help prevent obesity. It is also said to have a good skin regeneration effect, stabilize the skin and help improve symptoms such as atopy.
It is said that it is recommended to consume less than 10 tablets a day because it has high insulation and can cause diarrhea if consumed a lot.
◁ Lucuma ▷
This is Lukuma, which is called 'Inca's Gold'.
It is very unfamiliar fruit for out of latin america. This time, I lived in Peru and ate for the first time.
It is said to be a fruit eaten mainly during festivals.
The green fruit has a yellow pulp inside the shell and contains brown seeds.
Lucuma contains various proteins, vitamins, beta-carotene, niacin, iron, zinc, calcium, and magnesium.
The high content of various vitamins helps to prevent skin aging and helps promote antioxidants.
It contains iron, which helps prevent anemia and is a very good fruit for women.
It is also used as a fruit for diabetic patients.
Rukuma can be eaten either as a raw fruit, as a beverage or raw material, but in powder form, it can also be eaten as a cake, biscuit, or ice cream.
Personally, I found it more delicious to eat with a drink or ice cream than with fresh fruit.
